This transformational took place in the beautiful landscape of Charlottesville, Virginia, under the combination of creative design and quality construction to meet specific needs. We began with a full-site analysis that focused on addressing differences in topography and existing vegetation. One of the main features of the was a stunning, multi-tiered terrace system created from locally sourced stone. The terrace system not only introduced beauty to the space, but also provided additional outdoor living. Each terrace was its own space and designed for dining, relaxing and gardening, connecting indoors and outdoors seamlessly. Using native plants was a critical goal. Selecting plants that were native to Virginia ensured that the landscape would thrive with minimal maintenance and support local biodiversity. As a result, we employed a vibrant selection of flowering perennials and ornamental grasses to contribute to the overall appeal and invite pollinators, thus supporting ecological balance. We also installed a custom irrigation system to support our eco-friendly commitment, manage water efficiently, and conserve water. Perhaps one of the more significant challenges of the was an existing steep grade at the back of the property. While the challenge could have been a detriment to the , we met the challenge by creating a strong and beautiful retaining wall to stabilize the property and introduce a new visual feature to the landscape. Soften the retaining wall with cascading plants, we continued to wrap and fold the design into the natural setting of the . The final product was an incredible outdoor retreat that has surpassed our client's expectations. The yard is now an artistic landscape that provides fun and family for a cozy outdoor space to gather with friends and family.
