The site modifies the natural beauty of the existing landscape to create a modern landscape design that acts as an outdoor living room for the homeowner. Residential 3 is home to a special selection of native plantings that enhance the aesthetic of the property while creating a living environment for local biodiversity. The plants were selected for their seasonal interest and low maintenance, which create a living landscape for the home. Perennials, with their color and diversity, flourish as the seasons change alongside shrubs and ornamental grasses. A natural stone walkway guides the homeowner and visitors through landscaped spaces with rustic charm. A fire pit area made from locally sourced flagstone is another notable feature of Residential 3. This outdoor living space acts as a place for family and friends to gather in the evenings. Comfortable seating welcomes visitors to congregate around the fire pit or simply enjoy the space. Caring for the landscape's topography and merging it seamlessly with the hillside was certainly a challenge, but a balance was achieved in consideration of the function of space. In an effort to utilize water in an efficient way and support green plants, a newly installed drip irrigation system was added to the process. Despite drainage issues on the site, the Kennon Williams Landscape Studio team designed and built an effective route for the site drainage, managing to establish elevated beds for water runoff while providing a good environment for the plants on the property. The result is a unique landscape that represents the clients' vision and lifestyle allowing them to relax, enjoy nature, and entertain friends and family. The clients were thrilled with the result and stated it is a welcome extension of their home. Design and installation quality was excellent, as we expect from Kennon Williams Landscape Studio, elevating landscaping in the greater Charlottesville area.
