About This Project

San Carlos Cottage Garden Located in central San Carlos, the "San Carlos Cottage Garden" is a remarkable display of the artistry and professionalism of Kristen Rudger Landscape Design. This transformed a small residential yard into a colorful oasis that maximizes function while improving aesthetics. The landscape contains a rich collection of native plants that were selected for their ability to endure climate and attract pollinators. A winding cobblestone walk invites you to investigate the high-end seating area, which features two built-in cedar benches. Permeable pavers were installed to improve drainage while also showing a method of environmentally-clever practice in our commitment to sustainable landscaping. One challenge we faced was the sloping grade of the site, which required innovative methods to grade to carve out level planting beds and direct water flow. Kristen's team ingeniously constructed terraced garden beds that permit multiple blooms and greenery throughout seasons. The outcome is stunning! Color is abundant, featuring hydrangeas, lavender, and ornamental grasses in a meditative space for the senses. At night, additional lighting brings the garden to life, providing the homeowners with an outside space to enjoy past dark. Even from the selection of drought-resistant plants to the artisan hardscaping, every detail imagined was expertly thought out with high standards in mind to the quality and work of Kristen Rudger Landscape Design. The gratified clients were bestowed the ability of having an outdoor oasis that benefits their lifestyle and ecological health of the area.
