Independence Shade Garden Independence Shade Garden by MALA LLC - Michael Ashley Landscape Architecture an extraordinary landscape example, transforming a typical residential area into a tranquil refuge. Located in the center of Independence, this garden highlights our passionate craftmanship and creativity. The plants around the patio were chosen appropriately in terms of the amount of sunlight they received and developing a lush, shady oasis in a part of the yard that receives different levels of sun, the challenge was met with clever planning and creativity. Through a creative combination of native plants we introduced ferns, hostas, and astilbes creating a beautiful palette of colors and textures throughout the seasons all while ensuring the plants thrived under their new environment. This intentional placement uses the natural undulations of the land, delivering depth and a sense of peace. Then for pathways and seating areas, we chose good materials in order to add beauty to the garden, while filling it with purpose. Flagstone walkways meander through the landscape, reaching out to the various garden rooms. With its strong, untamed charm, this handcrafted wooden pergola made from sustainably harvested timber invites you to hang out and get outside more often. Managing drainage was a real issue in overcoming during building. Our team executed an efficient grading, integrated permeable pavers to optimize the water table, and kept the garden looking beautiful. Thus creating the final product: A beautiful, immersive landscape aesthetic that not only satisfies the client but also serves as an invitation to the surrounding community to experience the art of nature. Independence Shade Garden showcases MALA LLC's commitment to quality landscape work and offers the neighborhood a beautiful setting to enjoy.
