About This Project

The d South Shore Waterfront Landscape, was designed by Melissa MacDonald, Landscape Architect, and is an example of a successful balance between nature and design. On a beautiful shoreline, this was a fulfilling, but challenging to create a space that not was not being used into a welcoming outdoor oasis. From the native vegetation, with a fresh and not overwhelming selection of plant and sustainable materials, we were able to achieve an engaging landscape that made a positive impression on the aesthetics while at the same time support ecological benefits. Some of the features include a meandering path built of bluestone harvested in the area to transition visitors from each dynamic garden of hydrangeas, ornamental grasses, and salt tolerant shrubs., Also, a newly constructed wooden deck that extends over the watercauses, an area to relax and to entertain outside., and some native boulders as seating and to help with erosion repair. One of the challenges was the site’s different elevations and natural site drainage system. Through the use of innovative grading and rain gardens, along with vegetated areas and pathways, we were able to navigate water routing efficiently, creating a sustainable and appealing landscape with our coastal setting in mind. The use of permeable pavers at the driveway is a great example of some of the environmental in the as well. The end result, is an engaging and exceptional landscape that adds value to the property and offers a calming experience for the homeowners. It is an unbelievable achievement to observe client satisfaction, and we are confident the owners are enjoying the outdoor area Melissa MacDonald and their team designed with the waterfront environmental surroundings of creativity and craftsmanship. This landscape proves our commitment to quality, creativity and client happiness, enriching the lives of the people in the Greater Boston Area and beyond.
