Coan Waterfront Landscape, Camano Island, WA Lankford Associates Landscape Architects are pleased to share the Coan Waterfront Landscape , consisting of a private waterfront property on Camano Island, WA, that has been completely transformed. The was inspired by the waterfront's natural beauty and purposefully designed for outdoor enjoyment, relaxation, and entertainment. The design utilizes a combination of native plants, ornamental grasses, flowering perennials, and hardscaping materials that reflect the coastal feel of the Pacific Northwest. Locally quarry sourced stone was used for the tiers, walls, and pathways as a durable landscape choice that blends naturally with the property. A custom cedar deck was incorporated into the building design that provided the best view of the landscape and water, encouraging the client and guests to engage with their environment. One of the site's challenges included a steep slope leading down to the waterfrontthe took advantage of this grade by using tiered landscape stabilization and enhancing that stabilization with layering of ornamental grasses and flowering perennials. These were not only functional but also spectacular additions to the ecology, structure, colors, and textures of the site. The was wrapped up with a fire pit experience, complete with boulders as seating, providing the perfect place to gather during evenings at the water’s edge. The Coan Waterfront Landscape is now a spectacular landscape that reflects the built vision and has become a place of retreat that integrates into the environment. With the utmost attention to detail and execution, Lankford Associates has developed a landscape that both elates the client and demonstrates the company's commitment to designing beautiful outdoor spaces that celebrate nature's essence, enhance the beauty of Camano Island, and reflect the context of place.
