Wing Lake - An Outdoor Getaway by Ventures Design Located in the beautiful state of Michigan, Venture’s Design Wing Lakewas the ultimate merger of nature and beautiful craftsmanship. Serving the communities of Beverly Hills all the way to Ann Arbor, we had hoped to take an ordinary backyard and transform it into a beautiful lakeside escape that emphasized serenity and elegance. This involved an intentionally designed multi-level garden that brought together native plants and modern-day design approaches. We incorporated stone from a local quarry for our retaining walls and pathways to create emphasis on enduring beauty. We sought a variety of perennials and ornamental grasses that complemented each other in color yet also enhanced visual interest throughout the seasons. Plateaus and incline changes on the property were prevalent and required careful coordination regarding drainage to prevent wash out and toward the design's intended longevity. The resulting drainage measures not only ensured durability, but they provided the landscape with even more function. A unique element found in Wing Lake was the custom-built, natural stone fire pit, located within defining parameters for people to gather at night. Surrounded by ample seating and lighting measures, it invites family and friends to gather around the fire. Furthermore, we complimented the site with a water feature, incorporating generative sound within the design while emphasizing a higher level of tranquility. Ultimately, our delivering of the space proved itself to exceed the expectations of the client, featuring another beautiful, usable outdoor space which serves as a great retreat from day-to-day life. Every piece of the design that was provided was thought to care that embodies Venture’s Design commitment to better quality, quality, and client focus.
