in Focus: Carving a Backyard out of Stone Completed by A Blade of Grass Backyard Carved From Stone } This beautiful transformation is located in the heart of Newton and is a testament to the artistry and skill of a Blade of Grass. It transformed a previously underutilised courtyard and surrounding areas into breathtaking landscape that complements the natural beauty existing in the Wellesley area and Weston. At the heart of the design is an intricate stone patio, constructed from locally sourced granite pavers that are both durable and blend seamlessly with the earthy tones of the surrounding garden. With a custom seating area around an impressive fire pit, the patio is a great gathering place for family and friends. Varieties of native plants are used so that the beds are filled with rich foliage and cyclical blooms, every season in New England. Flanking the patio these generous perennial beds are planted to thrive in tandem with the climate. Such a steep slope presented a whole new set of challenges, one of the more important being accurately grading the site to maintain proper drainage and avoid any potential pooling of water. With a French drain installed by our expert crew, cleverly hidden beneath the soil, this will provide the homeowner with a dry space for most if not all of the year. .Then we incorporated a bubbling water feature to provide a tranquil centerpiece as well as a habitat for local wildlife, further enhancing the peaceful environment and biodiversity balance. Soft landscape lighting is also included to highlight the stonework and plants so the space can be enjoyed 24/7. The end product is gorgeous exterior oasis which strikes a perfect harmony between functionality and natural beauty, and has overcome all expectations of our clients, offering their own piece of paradise in their backyard.
