The team at LandArt Associates, LLC. is proud to share the 'Personal Resort' located in Elkridge, Maryland, converting a typical backyard into an extraordinary retreat for relaxation and visual escape. Constructed from the ground up, our firm has created an outdoor space featuring multiple elements of nature and luxurious features reflecting the clients desire for austere beauty. After you arrive at the 'Personal Resort,' the entryway is along a custom stone path made up of locally sourced bluestone pavers allowing for a natural connection to the artful tranquil space. The areas of plus plants follow the design of the path creating a beautiful arrangement of color throughout all of the seasons while requiring very little maintenance. The central feature of the entire is an eloquent water feature made of a waterfall cascading into a koi pond, where the water creates wonderful sights and sounds. To add to the outdoor living experience, we constructed a large wooden deck made with sustainably sourced ipe wood, which integrates well into the shaded pergola land, connecting the home to outdoor living with climbing vines. The space is great for entertaining guests, with an outdoor kitchen that features a grill and bar space for fantastic gatherings. One challenge that we confronted was leveling the sloped yard surface. We successfully leveled the ground using natural stone and added a terraced wall to create a sense of permanent depth and dimension to the landscaping. We wanted to develop a regeneration lighting design to illuminate paths, exhibit the house's structural features, and make the space inviting and warm for evening relaxation, using LED fixtures which are energy efficient. This process and final product inspired creativity and artistry for the sake of exceeding the client's ideals of beauty. The initial result received collaborative praise from the local citizens, expressing how proud they were to have such craftsmanship, creativity, and artistry in their community. This 'Personal Resort' backyard, as a visual extension to the house, satisfies an appetite of quality, creativity, and beauty, delivering a little piece of paradise to a backyard and confirming our commitment to enhance outdoor landscapes in Baltimore and surrounding areas.
