About This Project

Narrative: New Construction Landscape completed May 2009 The ‘New Construction Landscape’, completed by Sterling Design & Landscape Resources in May 2009, illustrates our commitment to creating quality and innovative landscaping design in Houston. We transformed an empty residential lot into a beautiful outdoor space to complement the architecture of the home. We began the with site challenges, soil conditions, and remediation performed by a qualified horticulturalist with high-quality organic compost mixed in with the soil and using drainage solutions to ensure plants were healthy. We incorporated a variety of native Texas plants, including wildflowers in colors from yellows to reds and lush hardy shrubs to promote biodiversity while significantly reducing maintenance. Some of the key elements of the included a stone pathway, custom made from locally sourced limestone, which served a function and added modest elegance to the design. We designed a lovely water feature, a small pond with a small waterfall which served as the focal point of the garden, contributing to the peaceful atmosphere (and attracting local wildlife). Sustainability was a key focus, applying drip irrigation systems to conserve water, and incorporating native plants that naturally thrive in Texas. Materials and plants were carefully selected for low maintenance and are performing beautifully. Upon completion, our client was thrilled with the final outcome! The new outdoor space not only enhanced their home, but also contributed to a relaxed space for family gatherings and enjoyment.
