Wisteria Tree House: A Peaceful Hideaway by Karen Aitken and Associates Located in the beautiful hills of Aromas, Wisteria Tree House is a that shows the vision and skill of Karen Aitken and Associates. This delightful landscape design takes a peaceful hillside site and transforms it into a beautiful outdoor retreat that connects nature and architecture. At the center of the is a one-of-a-kind tree house, covered in flowing wisteria vines that provide a magical touch to the home and landscape. The design features sustainable materials, like reclaimed lumber and local stone, complementing the site and its ecological systems. A meandering pathway, made of natural flagstone, takes visitors through idyllic gardens full of native plants, including wildflowers and herbs. While working on this wasn't without its challenges: dealing with the steep terrain and figuring out drainage for the hillside - thorough planning and engineering allowed our team to keep the beauty of the landscape itself in mind as we addressed these issues. A rain garden was created to manage stormwater runoff while also acting as an attractive feature that adds a beautiful element of depth and biodiversity to the ecosystem. The outcome is a beautiful retreat that meets and exceeds what the clients envisioned; function and aesthetics alike. The Wisteria Tree House is now a highly regarded place for family to gather and enjoy everyday life and its surroundings.
