Lawn to Luxe by The Peoples Gardening Collective The Peoples Gardening Collective is proud to share the story behind 'Lawn to Luxe', a local landscaping based in Bellevue, Washington, located in the Greater Seattle Area. Our goal was to help transform a traditional lawn area in Bellevue into a fabulous outdoor space that has both aesthetic and functional value. The process began with a visit and evaluation of the existing yard. Although the backyard was large, it was completely flat, uninspired and lacked character. Our team imagined this landscape to be more appealing in a way that would not only reflect the homeowners' love of nature, but to also help create a relaxing environment for family gatherings as well as moments of solitude. To do this, we incorporated a range of carefully chosen elements, including native plants that are adapted to existing climate conditions for ease of maintenance and sustainability. We picked an array of beautiful perennials and ornamental grasses for year-round interest, while placing trees as sources of natural shade and screening. To create a different outdoor living experience from their patio, we incorporated a beautiful stone patio of basalt pavers sourced locally to provide a durable space for outdoor dining and entertaining. We also incorporated softscape elements such as shrubs and flowerbeds to add harmony and a sense of tranquility to the space. One challenge we faced was the sloped space, which initially created drainage issues and a lack of accessibility to the different spaces. Our skilled team devised an intricate grading plan to ensure proper flow of drainage to prevent erosion. In the more confined areas of the landscape we created tiered garden beds for ease of maintenance, as well as for dimension and decoration. The outcome of 'Lawn to Luxe' was nothing short of extraordinary. The homeowners were so excited to be able to enjoy their new outdoor space, which has even become an exciting setting for their everyday lives, and especially special occasions. The transformed the amenities of the existing patio while harnessing the beauty of the continuous space that was underutilized. the property is not only more aesthetically appealing but is now more valuable to the fabric of Bellevue.
