Hughes Landscaping by Yavapai Landscaping Located in the scenic Prescott Valley, the Hughes by Yavapai Landscaping is a perfect combination of natural beauty and visionary design. The multi-faceted landscaping intended to turn a large residential property into an outdoor paradise representing the client's wishes while taking into account local topography and climate. Our first task was to conduct a thorough site analysis to study the condition of the soil, drainage, and light exposure. This analysis would ensure that any materials that were introduced to the , would thrive in the environment. With this principle in mind, we chose to include several native plant materials, such as desert marigolds and agaves, both of which were colorful and unique and provided a low-maintenance aesthetic. An attractive feature to the Hughes is the stone path built out of locally sourced flagstone. The path gracefully weaves through the garden, leading to different seating areas and a rustic fire pit, that was hand-built by our staff, and now serves as a gathering area under the stars in Arizona! With natural boulders framing the fire pit and seating surrounding it, makes for a beautiful focal point and a place to entertain outdoors. Aside from the hardscape, the prioritized a sustainable irrigation system that conserves water and provides essential hydration for plants. The irrigation plan accounted for the diversity of the plant materials to provide healthy growth with low maintenance for the client. During the Hughes , there were several challenges that included terrain and invasive plant material that were already present on the site. Utilizing creative landscaping methods and soil remediation techniques, we did our best to turn those challenges into opportunities. The whole created a coherent and lush landscape that connects the outdoor space with its context. When the Hughes was revealed, the client was elated! The Hughes property qualified as an outdoor space that serves both function and interest.
