Lake Retreat by D-CRAIN Design and Construction In the heart of Austin, 'Lake Retreat' by D-CRAIN Design and Construction transformed a modest backyard into a stunning lakeside retreat. Water from the backyard serves the communities of Barton Creek, Lost Creek, Rollingwood, Shady Hollow, Sunset Valley and West Lake Hills, and is testimony to D-CRAIN's dedication to quality and innovation in landscape design and build. At the center of the retreat is a large natural stone patio that relates directly to the existing grade, creating sight lines to the adjoining lake. D-CRAIN selected a range of flagstone to ensure a durable, non-slippery, flat surface that would be practical for gatherings or relaxing in front of the water. Native plantings and supplementary ornamental grasses give the sense of lush, varied seasonal color around the patio while assisting in the expansion of local biodiversity. Given the type of and custom landscaping, drainage was a design issue prior to landscaping. Using blocks of existing and some new stone to terrace the flower beds meant we could solve quarrel drainage and erosion without compromising the view over terraces flower beds. These will be populated with drought tolerant perennials and easy to maintain shrubs. Custom lighting was designed so the best features of the landscape could be enjoyed and highlighted at night in the retreat atmosphere. Reclaimed wood was selected for raised garden beds and chair frames clockwise too cushioned weather resistant outside fabric. The result is a beautiful retreat that meets the core expectations of the owners as well as expanding even beyond what they could imagine. They are in love with their new outdoor space for friends, family gatherings and peaceful escapes from inside.
