Westlake Mediterranean by D-CRAIN Design and Construction Located in the heart of West Lake Hills, the 'Westlake Mediterranean' is a lovely expression of sophisticated landscaping that gives a nod to the natural landscape of Austin. The exemplifies a beautiful use of Mediterranean inspired materials and plants such as olive trees, bougainvilleas, and, a stone fountain which acts as the focal point of the outdoor space. Quality materials were used in the including locally sourced limestone and pavers that are durable and weather resistant. The team designed a multi-tiered terrace that enhances the property aesthetically, but also provides usable outdoor living spaces. Shaded seating areas with wrought iron accents accentuate the designed areas for relaxation and entertainment. A noteworthy consideration addressed was the existing site conditions which caused significant slope. Our architectural team solved the graded slopes which required grading solutions and retaining walls to drain properly while continuing the aesthetics. Our carpenters produced a landscape that included all architectural considerations to generate a well-defined, composed area. The outcome is a wonderfully beautiful oasis that evokes the Mediterranean with sharp greenery and an intentional, atmospheric lighting scheme that highlights the architecture and landscape at night. The clients have a peaceful oasis that combines elegance, richness, and usability the property intended for gatherings or quiet evenings under the stars. D-CRAIN Design and Construction was honored to take this idea from concept to reality while adding to the beauty of the West Lake Hills neighborhood, producing a of significant quality and craftsmanship.
