Steps by D-CRAIN Design and Construction In the beautiful landscapes of Austin, D-CRAIN Design and Construction was pleased to deliver the 'Steps' , a transformative landscaping that blends the natural landscape with modern elegance. The property is located in the quiet neighborhood of Barton Creek, and the purpose of this was to improve function while enhancing beauty and character at the front door to the client's home. One of the most interesting items of the 'Steps' is the custom stone steps made from local, Texas limestone which blends in with the surroundings and gives longevity and beauty. The steps were designed with a gentle slope for ease of traverse, and finished in a natural stone to include rustic finishes readable in the colors and patterns of the native green landscape. One of the challenges of the candid nature of the terrain on the site was the uneven elevations to the rear of the landscape. So grading and planing was of priority as stability for drainage. Luckily, D-CRAIN presented innovative drafting ideas for addressing those issues to ensure the steps would endure while providing ease of safety for the homeowners and their guests. Softscape was successfully integrated using native plants and ornamental grasses to bring color and textures to the design while supporting reigniting the biodiversity in Austin through sustainable landscaping. The results was breathtakingly. The beauty of the steps created a language unto itself without detracting from the guest experience as they stimulated curiosity to adventure into the exceptionally curated landscape from the home to be enveloped in the natural surroundings.
