Upon our first visit, the front yard of the home was lackluster and outdated. During our initial meeting, our team listened closely to the homeowners and captured their vision before designing an exciting and inviting new front yard that focuses on aesthetics and functional space. We kicked off the design process with an in-depth site analysis where we began to understand the challenges that would arise in regard to the climate and soil for a long-lasting and sustainable product. In order to maximize opportunities for success, we carefully selected plants that are native to the region with its humid subtropical climate. The landscape design incorporated perennials of magnificent color, ornamental grasses, and flowering shrubs planted in focal-influencing locations that create interest throughout the seasons. Sustainability also played a role in the landscape design process, and we made a point to incorporate sustainable materials into the as much as possible. We included permeable pavers for the walkway to maximize improvements in water management and drainage, a new stone border that adds to the sophistication of the bed areas, and helps manage erosion of the soils, and drip irrigation to ensure efficient, healthy, and responsible use of water while maintaining the appeal of the landscape. One of the most significant challenges that we faced was the need to improve a sloped area and remove water drainage in the yard. Our skilled team was able to develop a grading method to level out the area, which supported and redirected water, prevented drainage problems, and allowed the homeowners and guests easier accessibility to use the space. Ultimately, the result is a sphere for the front yard with an elegant design form with functional space. The clients were delighted with their new landscape and described it as a “dream come true.” They are confident that their home's value increased due to the appeal it now has, as well as a fantastic space for gathering and relaxing in their outdoor area.
