About This Project

Multi-Level Modern Cottage Designed by Rosmarin Landscape Design, the "Multi-Level Modern Cottage" brings together contemporary design and natural beauty as its primary focus and features the stunning landscapes of Cotati as its inspiration. This included a series of interlocking levels that connect outdoor living spaces. Our landscapes were carefully crafted as terraced gardens using stone and local, sustainable materials. Each level is an arrangement of drought-resistant plants, including native grasses and succulents, while creating year-round blooms and using minimal water. An important consideration for us was the sloped nature of the property. We were able to overcome this with the addition of a top-of-the-line drainage system that prevented erosion and established a considerable amount of longevity for the landscapes. These and other functional considerations blended seamlessly into the overall design; enabled us to maintain a natural land flow, while serving aesthetic contouring purpose. The best feature of this was the custom fire pit area and surrounding seating. The area creates a focal point for entertainment and is enhanced by overhead lighting intended for nighttime enjoyment. The natural materials of wood and stone, create a fire pit area with contemporary, warm, and inviting qualities. Overall, the results in a beautiful outdoor environment that accomplished what the client wanted functionally while improving their quality of life. The client loved their new landscape and described it as a meditative space that represents their taste and love of nature.
