Background: Sonoma County Impressionist Garden Rosmarin Landscape Design is pleased to share the for the Sonoma County Impressionist Garden - a lovely transformation that combines the artistry of nature with landscape design. Located in the heart of Sonoma County, this demonstrates the firm’s mission of quality and innovation as they serve the communities of Cotati, Rohnert Park, Santa Rosa, Sebastopol and surrounding areas. The idea of the garden was derived from the impressionist art movement, defined by vibrant colors and soft, flowing forms. Within the design there is a balance of native plants with ornamental species selectively chosen to create a ragged tapestry of texture and color, reminiscent of an impressionist artwork. The landscape features flowering perennials, ornamental grasses, and shrubs that add seasonality and variety that are easily assimilated into the environment in Sonoma County. Additionally, Rosmarin Landscape Design created meandering pathways, made from natural stone sourced locally, to enhance the experience and encourage exploration throughout the garden. A water feature was carefully designed to emulate a pond, providing ambient sound while attracting wildlife. Sustainable materials have been incorporated throughout, using reclaimed wood for the raised garden beds. This element not only is part of the sustainable practice, but adds a rustic touch. The property presented a unique challenge with differing topography. Rosmarin Landscape Design designed terraced planting areas to handle the slopes. This strategy fostered a beautiful layering effect and stability, while promoting drainage and mitigating soil erosion. In the end, the gardener became an Impressionist Garden that engages the sense and is a tranquil setting for the owners.
