Claypit Hill Residence Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design LLC completed the Claypit Hill Residence as a demonstration of their landscape design expertise in the Stoneham area. A design with substantial reimagination of the property, the Claypit Hill Residence combines natural beauty with usable outdoor spaces, transforming the aesthetic of the home and connecting the outdoor space with the indoor experience. The design incorporates a wide range of thoughtfully chosen design elements, including native plantings that support biodiversity and require low-maintenance. A beautiful locally-sourced bluestone patio creates a durable and beautiful gathering space for family and entertainment. An elegant path of recycled brick pavers provides direction through the lush gardens, promoting ease of movement while connecting to the surrounding landscape. One of the major challenges we faced on-site was the various topography of the property. Our team effectively capitalized on this opportunity by designing terracing solutions that created tiered gardens. The identified tiered gardens enhanced visual interest, managed drainage, and mitigated erosion. The permeable paving materials also allowed rainwater to infiltrate naturally into the earth, adhering to sustainable practices. We also constructed custom raised garden beds, enabling the homeowners to grow their own vegetables and herbs and further connect to their landscape. Lastly, we implemented a coordinated lighting plan that highlights the architecture of the building, as well as the beauty of the gardens after dark. In conclusion, we provided a beautiful outdoor oasis that reflects our client's vision, the design solutions typical of Matthew Cunningham Landscape Design LLC, and a fine attention to detail. The homeowners are excited their newly created outdoor spaces, as they connect aesthetics, functionality, and sustainability, making it an extension of their home.
