Belmont Hill Set within a beautiful landscape in Belmont, Massachusetts, the Belmont Hill , designed by Melissa MacDonald, Landscape Architect shows how beautiful landscape design can transform a property. This thorough landscaping effectively combines nature with usable outdoor living space, addressing the client's desire for both beauty and useability. Central to the design is a thoughtfully curated selection of native plants that will thrive in the New England climate, to encourage biodiversity and to encourage lower water usage. Permeable pavers were installed in every pathway to not only reduce the appearance of a typical plastic or timber path in the garden, but also manage drainage issues on site, especially as it pertains to a "new watering can" concept of conservation. The had many challenges including working with uneven site conditions and preserving existing mature trees. Melissa met these challenges with a variety of terraced garden beds that would display color from seasonal blooms and accommodate for the existing landscape in a manner that would respect the land. The terraced beds create depth and dimension and productive zones for living and relaxing outdoors. The installation of a custom stone fire pit creates an inviting gathering place surrounded by comfortable seating out of local materials. The finished water feature provides a gentle sound that adds to a relaxing and joyous ambience to the senses. The culmination of this is a cohesive and intriguing outdoor environment that reflects the personable style of the clients while strengthening their connection with nature. The homeowners are delighted with the result and feeling joyful with a vibrant, usable landscape, enhancing their quality of life alongside the beauty of Belmont. Melissa MacDonald dedicated her effort and quality materials to create an outstanding landscape that surprise and transform the property and has gotten to show what New England landscaping at its best can be.
