Landscape Revitalization - June 2013 Completed by: Sterling Design & Landscape Resources Service Area: Houston, TX In June 2013, Sterling Design & Landscape Resources began a transformative effort to revitalize a residential property in Houston, TX. The goal of the was to rehab a tired landscape, while increasing the overall aesthetics and functionality of the space. The commenced with a comprehensive site assessment which revealed some specific challenges, such as poor drainage, and limited sunlight in some areas. To overcome these issues, a design was established that included permeable pavers to manage water, along with a diverse selection of drought resistant plants that would thrive in Houston’s climate. The design plan integrated native plants, ornamental grasses, and colorful flowering perennials, adding year-round color, and attracting local wildlife. Pathways and decorative boulders made from high-quality natural stone added interest to the design while also enhancing functionality. A custom-built wood pergola was also provided to offer shade for the homeowners while adding livable space to the site. The team faced challenges throughout the entire process, including existing root systems, and variable soil conditions. However, the skilled landscape architects and horticulturists at Sterling Design & Landscape Resources addressed the challenges with care ensuring everything was placed for maximum growth and visual impact. The final product was stunning. The redesigned landscape not only increased the curb appeal of the property, but also created a welcoming oasis for family gatherings, and outdoor relaxation.
