Family Backyard At Alford's English Gardens Inc., we take pride in creating outdoor spaces that provide an environment where one can escape, and our latest , 'Family Backyard', is a prime example of our commitment to quality. Situated in Cerritos, this gave us the opportunity to design a colorful outdoor landscape conducive to a relaxing family environment and a play space. The design brings lush landscaping together with functional spaces in a timely and aesthetically pleasing manner. A stunning collection of native plants, bright perennials, and ornamental grasses were chosen strategically to provide color and interest throughout the seasons while improving maintenance and upkeep. We also built pathways with natural stones to provide a cohesive transition between the various areas of the backyard. A challenge we faced was an uneven landscape which affected accessibility and poor drainage. Our team was able to skillfully grade the landscape to provide proper runoff while creating tiered planting beds to improve functionality and visual interest. We used high-quality materials, such as reclaimed wood for raised garden beds and sustainable pavers for the patio, to highlight our commitment to an environmentally ethical practice of land stewardship. An integral component of the Family Backyard is the custom-built pergola, a shaded destination appropriate for family gatherings and outdoor dining. The patio structure, made from long-lasting cedar, is designed to fit seamlessly into the landscape to provide both beauty and longevity for the owners. We installed LED landscape lights around the patio which provided a magical ambiance in the evening and allowed the family to enjoy their gathering space long after the sun set. Upon completion, livid clients remarked on how the new design improved their outdoor living space and offered a new opportunity to reconnect with nature.
