South Bay Contemporary As completed by T.H. Norton Landscape Architecture, Inc., 'South Bay Contemporary' showcases the epitome of modern landscaping where nature meets the contemporary landscape aesthetic. Located in the heart of the Bay Area, the consists of beautifully curated outdoor spaces that accentuate the architectural qualities of the home while creating an immersive retreat for the occupants. Our team was challenged with a specific slope across the property, which allowed us to create a cascading garden with distinct planting beds. We selected high-quality materials sourced locally that formed natural stone retaining walls that provided structural integrity, but also rustic charm to the modern landscape aesthetic. By selecting drought-tolerant plant varieties, we established a sustainable landscape, yet had colorful elements throughout each season. The outdoor living space featured prominently in the landscape and included a stunning deck constructed of eco-conscious composite materials. This permitted the ideal setting for entertaining with rich planting curated around the space. A modern water feature was selected to provide soothing ambiance, while placed LED lighting allowed for useful entertaining during evening hours. Throughout the , collaboration with the client took precedence to ensure the final landscape would exceed expectation, while meeting the homeowners vision. The outcome of South Bay Contemporary demonstrates how design, selected quality materials, and craftsmanship can create stunning spaces that generate excitement. T.H.
