We wanted to create inviting places to sit that fit with nature while still providing comfort and durability for our clients. The included custom-built benches made out of ethically sourced cedar, which has a natural and resistant property to decay, and can fit naturally into its environment. Each bench had a comfortable shape with represented curvature for maximizing comfort and gathering with friends, family or in solitude. The cedar was finished using a high-quality weather-resistant sealant that protects the wood while maintaining the beauty of the grain. One of the major challenges we faced was working with the different terrain that the locations provided. The workings of the benches when sites are sloped, or have varying levels, can be difficult- but our team did an excellent job of establishing a solid, leveled area for each bench base. Either through grading or using compacted gravel- we ensured to create a solid level area for each bench to promote maximum longevity. Aside from the actual benches, the team planted beautiful landscaping around the seating areas, featuring perennial flower beds and native shrubs. This not only elevates the visuals, but gives the seating areas a pop of color through the seasons, or across multiple seasons. Our teams worked to ensure the surrounding landscaping fit well within the surroundings of the benches with the idea to provide an additional layer of warmth and welcoming. The end result was an assortment of beautifully built benches nestled within colorful gardens that the clients loved, that make for a nice piece of nature for relaxation while overlooking the beauty of western North Carolina from their itself. Each bench became a place for relaxation and to simply take in the beauty of western North Carolina.
