Serving the beautiful areas of Arden, Asheville, and beyond, we set out to develop a multifunctional patio space where aesthetics paired with usability. We began the with a comprehensive consultation to fully embrace the client's vision. We were designing a natural stone patio that would serve as a central point for social functions and a calming space for a quiet evening spent looking at the stars. Using natural, local bluestone and flagstone, our team constructed the patio by hand, installing each stone to create a beautiful, durable space to enjoy. The rustic colored stones blended exquisitely with the natural ambiance of the setting. We had some challenges during this process. The property was sloped, and during planning we had the patio patio was 6-inches difference across the area. The team's knowledge of cliffs, inclines, and blended stone worked perfectly as we designed the patio as a tiered design that incorporated natural boulders into the retaining walls. This process did two things. It flattened the slope and created a sense of depth to the patio area. Additionally, drainage was built-in to the patio to manage the rainwater and to prevent erosion. Lighting design was also completed to accentuate the features of the patio. We also installed some local plants that would do well within the surrounding climate. With ambient lighting and a fire pit area, the client was excited to create a stunning new space for evenings spent with friends and family around the big fire! The client was happy with the product and the amazing transformation of the patio, how it blended perfectly into the outdoor living experiences, and the appreciation of the labor that was devoted into their new patio.
