About This Project

Pool & Spa by Harmony Design Group Located in the downtown of Westfield, this 'Pool & Spa' by Harmony Design Group was an extraordinary transformation of a small backyard into an outdoor oasis. Based out of Berkeley Heights, Cranford, and further afield, our design team faced the challenge of sloped terrain, placing in place a multi-level landscape that respects the site's natural topography. At the heart of this was a custom swimming pool which was remarkable. Surrounding the pool were beautiful stone copings made with locally harvested bluestone, providing eye-catching durability against wet environments and weathering. Next to the pool was a cutting-edge spa that provided an element of relaxation, again beautifully placed with stone work and cascading waters. To complete the landscape we incorporated lush plantings of native perennials and ornamental grasses. The desired result of plantings was an element of color and texture to the pool area nearly year-round. Drainage was handled through permeable pavers on the patio area, which allowed easy drainage of water while providing a hardscape to chill with friends. Outdoor lighting also filled the space, encouraging the owners to enjoy their outdoor area long into the night. A challenge in planning this was that access to the site was limited, which encouraged us to create alternate and ingenious means of transportation for materials, without disturbing the existing landscape. With forethought and teamwork, we were successful in alleviating this challenge and executing the entire scope of the on schedule and within line- items. The finished product, which I think we can both agree to call stunning, fulfilled the dreams and desires our clients had. In addition, the new pool and spa complemented the entire landscape, cheerfully blending relaxation with entertaining.
