Backyard Grading - (Before & After) Truesdale Nursery & Landscape Services is pleased to share our most recent renovation , “Backyard Grading - (Before & After).” Located in the rustic towns of Union County - comprising of Berkeley Heights, Chatham, and Westfield - our client was relaying very clear directional requests: they had a sloped, unlevel backyard and were having trouble using their terrace to enjoy their outdoor space. We began the process with site analysis of the grading and existing drainage issues. Both of which were necessary considerations for the overall health of the yard. The onset of the was to produce a plan that allowed the yard to be graded with the goal of moving water during rain events, while also avoiding erosion. We accomplished the objectives by developing a grade that would slope gently away from the house; our crew used relatively good topsoil, and native grasses, which finished the grading and added to the enrichment for environmentally sustainable growth. One of the more daunting challenges of the was to address the rocky sub-soil which were challenging to grade through. Our team utilized equipment to remove, and clean up the debris, and establish an infrastructure. The next order of business was to install a natural stone retaining wall which added an improvement in aesthetics, while lending stability to the graded land. As you can see, our efforts produced a most admirable area - a beautiful, level backyard with distinct areas for planting, play, and lounging. To this end, our client was very satisfied in taking a messy backyard and creating a usable space to host social events or time with family. The marriage of grading with beneficial landscaping was able to showcase the existing beauty that surrounded this outdoor oasis.
