Little John by Austin Outdoor Design Located in Tarrytown, the lovely vibrant community, 'Little John' landscaping perfectly showcases Austin Outdoor Design's vision of outdoor spaces becoming beautiful retreats. SIGNIFICANT BACKYARD RENOVATION This entailed a total renovation of an existing, residential backyard to improve its beauty as an outdoor space and as an addition to the home. The design integrates native Texas plants, drought-tolerant landscape and thoughtful use of materials that are place specific and water-efficient in this near water-less landscape. A flagstone patio at the heart of the transformation offers an inviting space for entertaining and family gatherings. We also built a custom fire pit, naturally set with boulders, so they had a nice spot to chill during the evenings. Excuse my blurry selfie but one of the key challenges we had was that the property was on quite the slope. We designed tiered garden beds, and constructed eye-catching retaining walls with local stone that solved the slope and created visual interest, depth, and character in the landscape with care and creativity from our experienced team. We made sure that it keeps a natural drainage system, so rainfall flows right through, eliminating erosion as well as keeping the plant life green, lush and bright. This ended in a beautiful display of perennials and shrubs that bloom in various colors, that are laid out strategically that color the garden through the year and attract the local wildlife. The final product far exceeded the client's initial hopes of their semi-functional yard into an amazing oasis that now compliments the area.
