Chris’s Backyard Paradise by The Garden District Located in Kendall, Chris’s Backyard Paradise is a serene transformation that pays homage to the outdoor living lifestyle. The Garden District set out to transform this seldom-used space into an oasis, staying true to Chris’s vision of serenity and beauty. The transition began with an overall landscape plan, with a focus on creating a sustainable environment that incorporated native plants. Bougainvillea, jasmine, and ferns were used to create a vibrant backdrop thriving in the south Florida sun. A collection of stone pathways combined with natural flagstone patios created elegant transitions through each zone of the yard. One of the problems we faced was the existing drainage problems that inhibited use throughout the backyard. The Garden District created an engineered drainage solution that eliminated the problem and added aesthetic appeal with decorative gravel beds and rain gardens throughout the yard. Lastly, we constructed a custom pergola with climbing vines to make an inviting shaded area away from the sun and an outdoor kitchen area with granite countertops and a couple of grills for entertaining. The finished koi pond sat like a jewel in the landscape, surrounded by lush vegetation that attracted native wildlife. In the end, Chris was elated, describing the finished product as his personal retreat. The quality of materials, craftsmanship and attention to , came together in a space that functionally worked for all his needs while being simply breathtaking!
