About This Project

South Pasadena Craftsman Cottage Located in the beautiful neighborhood of South Pasadena, the ‘South Pasadena Craftsman Cottage’ showcases a cohesive blend of stylish traditional elements and modern day use. The overall management of the landscapes uses a homage to the home's Craftsman architecture and enhances the home’s curb appeal, and outdoor living space. The design includes a combination of usable native vegetation, drought tolerant landscapes, and handcrafted stone work that are sustainable and beautiful. Some major features include a curvaceous pathway made of natural flagstone that reads as a tour through the garden beds of wild California poppies and lavender. There is a custom-made wood trellis built on site that frames the entrance and screen into the tranquil yet expansive and intimate space. One challenge to the site was managing the uneven terrain, which required us to be creative with grading solutions before we got involved. Our team came up with solutions and made tiered planting areas to accommodate multiple plants and interest to the overall growing area. Using top quality local materials characterizes quality and sustainability and durability against the elements. The end result is a stunning landscape that matches the historic charm of the Craftsman Cottage, while inviting the owner with lush greenery, and a place to enjoy outside.
