Summary: Los Angeles Hilltop by June Scott Design The Los Angeles Hilltop rises at the top of an iconic and breathtaking ridge in the Los Angeles community; signifying both place and achievement; and the hard work and quality of landscape produced by June Scott Design. Serving our Clients from Glendale to Pasadena and Hollywood; this emphasizes artisan outdoor living and gardens that work with the natural landscape. The design challenge involved taking a steep, sloped site and creating a functional landscape resulting in a beautiful garden. By using new terracing methods and natural stone from the region, June Scott Design created a series of staggered terraces that improved accessibility to the tiered landscape while providing visual depth and scope. Each of the terraces were detailed with California native plants known for their hardiness and beauty that require minimal water and maintenance. Sustainable methods were utilized by installing an effective drip irrigation system to conserve water while keeping the landscape lush and inviting. Pathways were implemented using permeable or porous pavers that maintained the erosion of the slope while providing a beautiful and durable surface to walk on while still following the contouring nature of the landscape. To further enhance the property; an outdoor living space enveloped by plants with a custom-made wooden pergola and fire pit was made as a centerpiece for gatherings that easily flow inside and out. The selections of fixtures were purposely researched and chosen to ensure weather resistantations and durability along with a modern aesthetic chosen by the Client. Throughout the , the difficulties of site access and logistics were managed while transforming the landscape in the tough conditions without extending beyond timeframes set out without compromising quality. What came from the collaboration of landscape and artistry, was a stunning hilltop oasis that not only achieved the vision or goals for our Client, but enriched and inspired their way of life; and as a result was complimented and recognized for its beauty, functionality and aesthetic appeal.
