Small Oasis by June Scott Design In the center of Pasadena, the 'Small Oasis' represents a thoughtful blend of dense urban living with tranquil surrounding nature. June Scott Design embraced the idea of transforming a small backyard into an oasis retreat, representing their belief in quality craftsmanship, along with innovative landscaping design and solutions. The introduced a careful selection of drought-tolerant plants, including native California plants as key components, to create a lush, colorful oasis primarily designed to look stunning year-round. Through the use of natural stone pathways and other aging materials, the design invites users to travel through a space full of colorful flowers and fragrant herbs. A backyard wooden overhanging frame was created for beauty, efficiency, and shade for sitting or entertaining. One of the most challenging components of this was accommodating for limited space while ensuring beauty, usability, and seating functionality. The design team used vertical garden elements that are created to conserve space while also adding depth and dimension. A small water feature was also installed to enhance the soothing sound of a gentle oasis while promoting calmness as part of the treatment. Ultimately, both the designer and the client are thrilled with the results of Small Oasis. The client now has the comfort of enjoying their own personal retreat, steps outside of their home, at a moment's notice. What the design team produces is a harmonious balance among textures, colors, and natural materials used in the to create an indoor/outdoor living experience in their once hidden treasure. Ultimately, the 'Small Oasis' represents the designer's beliefs in quality and sustainability, and their passion for creating unique landscapes that correlate with their clients' culture and lifestyle. Small Oasis symbolizes the transformative powers of quality landscape design within differing neighborhoods in Los Angeles.
