About This Project

Hilltop Craftsman Los Angeles Designed and executed by June Scott Design, "Hilltop Craftsman Los Angeles" represents a successful marriage of nature and architecture to improve the outdoor living space of a Craftsman-style home. The is situated within Los Angeles's traceable hills and involved careful planning and execution to fully address the challenges of crafting a site on a sloped property. Using native, drought-resistant plants and materials, our talented team created a sustainable landscape that thrives and requires less water. The terraced retaining walls were constructed from local stone that provides excellent structural support while committing to a rustic feel, all referencing the character of the Craftman house. A meandering pathway surface of decomposed granite completes the scheme, producing a natural flow throughout the garden while leading people towards spaces for contemplation, relaxing, and entertaining. One of the unique aspects of this was addressing the steep property slope while maintaining proper drainage to prevent erosion. Our capable landscape architects integrated a drainage system that successfully works with the landscape effect to support the house while aesthetically improving the overall property landscape. The outcome is a gorgeous outdoor space full of flowers, tall, luscious greens, and seating space for the family, designed for lounging through custom-built benches of reclaimed wood, to enjoy their elevated outdoor retreat. The client was delighted with the outcome as they were impressed with the level of design and quality of material that supported their vision and improved the overall property appearance! June Scott Design created a space that blends fair and functional aspects and enhances the landscaping experience for the neighborhood.
