Suburban Oasis Alderwood Landscape Architecture and Construction is excited to showcase the ‘Suburban Oasis' landscaping that changed outdoor living in the heart of the Pacific Northwest. Located within the beautiful countryside of the service areas, this unifies the natural elements and modern design to serve our thoughtful client’s needs. At the heart of the 'Suburban Oasis' is a generous outdoor living space consisting of a custom stone patio, made entirely of locally sourced flagstone. This durable and beautiful material offers long-term functionality and improves our client's landscape's aesthetics in any Weather. Native plantings surround the stone patio and include beautiful rhododendrons, lovely ferns, and fragrant lavender, creating a biodiverse sanctuary for local pollinators and color through the seasons. One of the 's challenges involved the site's steep topography. The Alderwood team worked to create a series of retaining walls with natural boulders to stabilize the landscape and define tiered planting beds. The retaining walls, in addition to a decomposed granite path that meanders through the garden, encourage guests to explore the varied plantings and quiet places in the landscape. Water features are an important part of the 'Suburban Oasis' with the inclusion of a lovely pond and waterfall. The water feature gives a gentle flowing sound and serves as a focal point for the garden, providing an invitation for contemplation. The pond is lined with natural stone, and aquatics were carefully selected to hold balance in the ecosystem. The final space of the 'Suburban Oasis' is a beautiful retreat that blends form and function. Our clients were very happy with the outcome and expressed this new outdoor space has become a beloved gathering place for family and friends.
