Located in the Hillsborough community, this showpiece exemplifies the company’s dedication to great craftsmanship and innovative design, while serving as reward for their clients in Atherton, Belmont, Burlingame, Emerald Lake Hills, Foster City, Highlands-Baywood Park, Menlo Park, Redwood City, San Carlos, San Mateo, and West Menlo Park. The focal point of this exceptional outdoor living space is a custom stone fire place that provides warmth and ambience for gathering during the evening. A perfectly designed seating area surrounds the fire place that is outfitted with weather resistant furniture to offer comfort and successful integration with the natural setting. Local flagstone pavers create a durable but artisan quality to the space. In order to compose a lush and inviting atmosphere, a variety of native plants were specifically selected to compliment the existing landscape. The design included aromatic lavender, bold bougainvillea, and drought tolerant succulents that are low maintenance and will thrive in the local climate while attracting local pollinators to enhance the ecology of the space. A smart irrigation system was employed to ensure water efficiency, in line with the values of the design to use as little water as possible. The slope of the property posed one of the most considerable challenges of the so much planning and executing had to go into developing and doing the work. The hills provided the opportunity to share the art of terracing to create level surfaces for entertaining, and to incorporate drainage to limit erosion. As a result, the design successfully combines a beautiful and functional space.
