Boulder Bar The Boulder Bar , executed by Four of Six Landscape, is a breathtaking display of design for incorporating nature into your functional outdoor living space. Situated in scenic Cottage Grove, the was intended to be a welcoming space for client socialization and relaxation that would create a services "town square" for clients from Madison to Sun Prairie. The Boulder Bar is characterized by its handmade stone bar constructed from locally sourced boulders that complement the area. The bar area features a sturdy, weather-resistant countertop, perfect for summer barbecues or evening grilling and socializing with family and friends. To aesthetically frame the bar we planted native plantings such as ornamental grasses and perennial flowers that bring color and texture through the seasons. For example, the Boulder Bar sits on sloped terrain, and using a design approach they were able to make a flat, usable area while keeping with the overall layout. We used natural stone to create a series of retaining walls that added beauty to the structure while promoting stability and draining as well. The design made the most of what was an almost unused space in the backyard and, through careful consideration and later stunning implementation, was transformed into an attention-starved backyard centerpiece. The end product is simply stunning! That is why Boulder Bar combines the practical aspects of functionality with nature's beauty and makes a great place for outdoor entertaining. The client was very pleased, explaining that the new space acts as a centerpiece of their home and lifestyle, serving as a "peaceful refuge."
