Summary: Elegance in Design by SURROUNDS Landscape Architecture + Construction Located in downtown Ashburn, the 'Elegance in Design' demonstrates how function and aesthetic can be combined to take an average backyard into an extraordinary outdoor oasis. This significant landscape managed by SURROUNDS Landscape Architecture + Construction showcases a mix of native plantings, intricate hardscaping, and unique water features that serve to accentuate the natural beauty of the property. The began by performing a robust site analysis that highlighted the site’s inherent features while ensuring optimal drainage and sunlight exposure for all different types of plants. The team then proceeded to select some the area’s best materials in quality stone pavers, hardwood decks, and granite boulders to help create an easy flow from the home to the landscape. One of the challenges the faced was the sloped terrain. This challenge was turned into an inviting multi-level garden space, using natural stone retaining walls to establish stability. A custom designed meandering path takes guests through enchanting gardens of perennials, ornamental grasses and flowering shrubs with visual interest all year long. The water feature is a unique design that takes the form of a pond with cascading waterfall that not only supports local wildlife but promotes an ideal space for family retreats and relaxation. The water feature was crafted in a way to fit in with the surrounding features of the landscape and utilizes sustainable materials. The client was tremendously impressed with this transformation and indicated that the space is an ideal setting for family gatherings and quiet time spent between family. 'Elegance of Design' reaches its intended desired aesthetic while demonstrating SURROUNDS commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and environmental stewardship. This serves as a next level expression of our goal to create inspiring and enduring outdoor spaces for all our clients in Aldie, Arcola, and beyond.
