Audubon Backyard Habitat Drake's 7 Dees Landscaping & Garden Center is proud to turn outdoor spaces into beautiful, livable landscapes that add to the beauty and biodiversity of our clients' property. The Audubon Backyard Habitat is a that shows our commitment to quality and stewardship to eco-friendly practices to clients in the greater Portland area, including Aloha, Beaverton, Lake Oswego, and beyond. The initial vision for this began with the desire to create a haven for nature while also making a lovely landscape for the clients to enjoy. The design emphasized the use of native plants that bring in pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects to create habitat in their yard. Locally harvested stone was used for the paths and natural mulch was used to help retain moisture and prevent weeds. The backyard was a challenge due to the slope of the yard and high water table in the area. This raised the need for regrading that would allow for drainage in the backyard and allow the plants to thrive. The landscape was successfully regraded to create tiered planting areas and a gentle slope for the flow and enjoyment of the landscape without compromising drainage. A rain garden was added to manage rain run-off and contribute to the ecological integrity of the habitat. The final result is a beautifully cohesive space within the clients' backyard that blends seamlessly with the natural environment. The garden is filled with colorful perennials that are low maintenance, along with a water feature to attract birds and seating to create a restful escape to the space. The clients were delighted with the transformation of their yard, saying it was peaceful and beautiful for them, while also creating wildlife habitat.
