About This Project

Title: Forest Heights Flower Garden . Drake's 7 Dees Landscaping & Garden Center added: The Forest Heights Flower Garden is a beautifully executed statement in our continuing efforts to raise the bar in our landscaping and creative footprint. Located in the center of Portland, this combines native plantings with select ornamentals for a colorful palette all year long. The work that my team had to do was to take an underused, slope side parcel of land and create a thriving garden that yielded crops as well as being a quiet and aesthetically pleasing space for locals in the area to visit. We sourced beautiful, sustainable materials, using raised beds that were made from locally sourced cedar to stand up to future weather and to better match the surrounding landscape. This design includes sunflowers, black-eyed Susans, and ornamental grasses in a variety of colors to ensure continuous blooms and excitement throughout different seasons, with no gaps in the seasons. We used a complex of rain gardens to handle the drainage problems associated with the site handling the stormwater there better and giving greater ecological benefits to the rain garden. My talented team also designed winding permeable paver pathways, which promote exploration and engagement with the colorful plant life: easy to traverse, but inviting to wander off the path. What they ended up with is a stunning floral oasis that will please the owner as well as anyone walking by. Not only do the flowers improve property curb appeal, but they also benefit the surrounding ecosystem and attract pollinators, adding a touch of nature to the community of Forest Heights.
