The is a full-scale landscaping that is reimagining an outdated and underutilized back yard space into a calm outdoor space, combining function and visual appeal. The initial step was to fully understand the client’s dreams, tastes and lifestyle, in a consultation setting. We've taken that information to develop a plan to create an impressive multi-tiered stone patio constructed of locally sourced natural bluestone, which is eye-catching. The patio was to include the added focal feature of a custom-built fire pit at the maximum elevation; to be enjoyed in chilly gatherings with family and friends! To further the relaxing mood of the space, our intention was to create a winding pathway that reflectively ads a sense of escape! Charlotte used mostly elegant, low-maintenance perennial plans that bloom every season so the garden feels inclusive; providing color and texture. To solve the challenge of grade, we behind a weathered granite, retaining wall. Although a structural necessity, a granite wall can create an attractive space. We supported the ’s sustainability approach with the incorporation of a rain garden that captures and filters storm water, while supporting biodiversity while minimizing storm water runoff. Further to engaging with nature, we included pinnacle light fixtures to outline the and to further enhance the landscape, at night. In the end, the family was delighted with the transformation a backyard into a stunning sanctuary that co-exists the natural landscape.
