Linear Steel In the cellophane of plant life highlighted by the arid backdrop of the Colorado skyline, Flora Distinctive Landscapes submits 'Linear Steel', a representing progressive metamorphosis. Our team set creating the modern but agrarian outdoor space that serves from Kremmling to Aspen. It was a challenge that we embraced by utilizing introductions of form that respect the natural context. At the heart of the Linear Steel is a corten steel retaining wall filled with linear steel topped with a complementing soil and material surrounds, creating a modern form of structural integrity. The material was selected for durability and beauty, and develops a unique rust patina that provides an attractive contrast to the surroundings of the Colorado landscape. In addition to that, our landscape designers included a linear series of pathways covered in local flagstone for visual interest while connecting a garden of native plants for the visitors to explore. All of the plants you selected were hardy-low maintenance plants that would need very little upkeep, thus assuring a sustainable garden that will survive the climate in which it is grown. We had to deal with the steep topography of the site, and this was one of the main challenges. We made tiered planting beds which solved drainage problems while creating different levels in the landscape. With a mixture of the native grasses and colourful wildflowers, this creates an incredible visual impact and biodiversity. The outcome of the Linear Steel is an amazing outdoor sanctuary pleasing the client and reflecting Flora Distinctive Landscapes' philosophy for grain personal integrated with innovative design. Thoughtful landscaping elements complement the fusion of steel and nature into a personal oasis inviting visitors to enjoy out of doors, sociably, in private spaces. Not only does this create a one-of-a-kind focal point for the property, the reflects not only our commitment to sustainable landscaping practices, but it also is one of Colorado’s jewels in outdoor living space.
