The Redsail Residence is a distinguished lakeside home located in Southern California, completed in the summer of 2021. The design showcases a seamless blend of modern aesthetics and thoughtful functionality, catering to the clients' desire for a strong street presence while ensuring that the interior entertaining spaces elegantly open up to the lake. The residence is defined by a harmonious combination of three primary materials: Equitone fiber-cement panels, natural stone, and pristine white stucco, each contributing to the home's contemporary yet inviting façade. The layout of the home is meticulously crafted to enhance the living experience. Notably, the guest suite on the first floor is uniquely canted to align with the northeast property line, creating a dynamic architectural feature that adds interest to the overall design. A striking roof monitor above the central stairway not only allows abundant natural light to flood the interior but also highlights a stunning wall of tooled stone, serving as a focal point of craftsmanship and artistry within the home. Incorporating sustainability into the design, the roof monitor features operable windows that facilitate passive ventilation, transforming the stair shaft into an effective thermal flue. This thoughtful element enhances indoor air quality while reducing reliance on mechanical systems.
