The scope of this landscaping included all aspects of landscaping that combine form and function into the outdoor space to achieve an outdoor living experience indicative of the harmony of nature and design, on a large scale for their residential property. The phase of the work started with a comprehensive site study to determine the optimal outdoor space layout regarding existing drainage, sun access to active landscaped places, and existing vegetation. In this site study, we considered ways to overcome the challenges presented with poorly drained sections of the site. A solution of corrective drainage was employed through the use of a complete French drain installation to enhance drainage on the property and preserve the plants that would occupy these areas long-term. Integrally connected to the was a nicely designed hardscape with a custom flagstone patio that was sourced from a local quarry. The design of this patio used nonporous flagstone that created an aesthetically realistic, long-lasting weather-proof, slip-resistant hardscape space, forming the center of the new outdoor living. The landscape design implemented both annual and perennial native-plant selections to create plant cover in varying climate zones while achieving operational ecological value and preservation of biodiversity. Selection included many species or local varieties of primarily native flowering perennials and shrubs and ornamental grasses which provide heightened interest in place maintenance and extended seasons. A drip irrigation system was incorporated into the landscape design and shoots plant water for a specified amount of time, assuring there would be adequate moisture in the soil for the health of the plants and in need of of little maintenance. Landscape lighting was installed at different levels of the stocked landscape to enhance the natural character of the site. Landscape lighting was installed at the entrance and exit points of the hardscape spaces that encompassed the outdoor multi-use outdoor kitchen with high-end appliances that integrated with the flagstone patio, allowing for family and social events to be facilitated in an easy entertaining zone.
