Kid-Friendly Backyards by Outdoor Makeover & Living Spaces Outdoor Makeover & Living Spaces exists to bring families together in their backyards, primarily through creating wonderful spaces for kids to play, explore, and retain memories. Our most recent , "Kid-Friendly Backyards", consisted of transforming a standard outdoor space into a colorful, safe and engaging outdoor space for kids and families in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. This initiative has been a larger undertaking, starting with our full design consultation process, where we got to work with the family to find out what was most important to them. This was also a unique - balancing curb appeal with everyday function can be challenging. We chose durable materials that would withstand the impact of play - and we selected materials that were eco-friendly such as our artificial turf that serves as a soft landing for little feet while requiring less maintenance in other areas. Our custom-designed play area included a wooden climbing structure, swings, and sandbox - all made with sustainably sourced wood, keeping safety and longevity in mind. We included plants - both native and colorful flowering beds that enhance the site, but also add to biodiversity. Lastly, we included a winding path with permeable pavers to lead to a seating area where parents can supervise while enjoying their surroundings. Our team of designers were challenged with a sloping yard we adapted to create multiple play levels using retaining walls and tiered landscaping to support safety while giving adventurous designs. The layout was crafted to allow for exploration and discovery with little hidden nooks and crannies that would inspire imaginative play. The final product was an updated, bright and multifunctional outdoor area, the family loved having their backyard back! Our Kid-Friendly Backyard turned their yard into a go to destination for family fun! With laughter and joy hanging in the air, this will enhance the family's quality of life while adding value to their home!
