Commercial - Boathouse Grill To be completed by Charles Earl Landscape Architecture LLC, the Boathouse Grill exemplifies our commitment to the transformation in commercial landscapes to one of comfort and aesthetically pleasing design. Located in the picturesque coastal area of Narragansett, this included the complete redesign of the outdoor dining area and surrounding landscaping in order to enhance the guest experience, while focusing on the natural beauty and views of the waterfront area. The site was carefully planned in its layout to provide diverse seating arrangements done with natural wood finishes to compliment the outdoor feeling of the space. The landscape was developed with many local plant species found through the area. Included were the ornamental grasses and flowering perennial plants to produce something interesting in all seasons, as well as helping with local biodiversity. The use of recycled pavers in the creation of walkways proved a good solution for effective drainage and an elegant treatment in the overall design. One of the major design problems was to deal with the sloping topography of the site and at the same time it was necessary to address the problem of other patrons having access. With that in mind, our landscape architects incorporated terraced gardens that solved the accessibility problem as well as providing a dynamic visual space filled with seasonal blooming flowers. The inclusion of some creative and reused materials in the treatment of the bar area also showed a nice touch for the restaurant while enhancing the environmental theme. The other area where sustainability was included in the design was in the lighting of spaces to improve the night-time service of guests while in no way detracting from the beauty and charm of the surroundings. The final result was a beautifully designed area of eating and relaxing, which really captured the spirit of the Boathouse Grill concept, which delighted the client with its functional designs and inviting space. Dining guests can now enjoy their meals, while surrounded by the verdant green of the generous planting area and with the sounds of the nearby waves breaking, so that it truly is a car destination site in the region.
