The aim was to take a bland outdoor space and turn it into a beautiful and usable blanket that would enhance the function and beauty of the home. The included building a custom deck with high quality and weather-resistant materials including IPE hardwood and composite decking, as well as beautiful stone pathways leading to flower beds with native plants and seasonal blooms that will bring life and color throughout all the seasons with full sun as a backdrop. The combination of IPE Hardwood decking and premium composite decking creates a beautiful look that strongly contrasts with the lush green of the plant material in the landscape. One of the main challenges was that the backyard was sloped and not a level place for the decks and seating areas. We dealt with this using some innovative grading techniques underneath the deck for a solid base, and we incorporated a drainage system to move the water away from the deck and foundation which will help to limit any erosion and a create a solid foundation for the plant material. The final results are breathtaking! The deck is extensive and creates the perfect gathering spot for family and friends. We even added some outdoor lighting to help set a safe and usable atmosphere during the nights, along with additional outdoor furniture such as seating and a dining table to make the space more usable for family gatherings, and over dinners to build memories together.
