Hillside Pollinator Landscape with Patio Jennifer Bromme Landscape Design is pleased to present the 'Hillside Pollinator Landscape with Patio,' a new that embodies our sustainability-forward, quality-driven approach to responsible landscape design. Located in the lush and picturesque hills of Pacifica, this landscape beautifies the property while enhancing biodiversity, creating a natural habitat for the pollinators that are so important to our ecosystem. The includes a thoughtfully designed patio made of flagstone slabs sourced from local quarries, which complements the native flowering plants chosen to attract native pollinators; bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds! The flowing lines of the semi-rigid patio create continuity from the hardscape to the vigorous living material of the hill; in execution the natural lines resonate as the hill spirals upwards, creating an organic feeling within the space. One of the most significant challenges was addressing the steep slope of the hillside, ensuring the right drainage while holding the soil in place. Our team incorporated a series of terraced beds, using natural boulders, lightly terraced with erosion control fabrics to facilitate an aesthetically pleasing yet functional landscape that combats erosion and allows for robust growth patterns that will happen in this beautiful and sustainable habitat. The end-result is a beautiful and easy-to-care-for garden that quenches the clients' desire for a garden full of stunning blooms and textures, while also educating them on how landscaping can be in step with and collaborate with nature. The vibrant colors, and varied textures invite exploration within the landscape, while the patio offers the perfect conversation pit, or place to appreciate the view of the gardening landscape all around it.
