About This Project

Birch Residence by GEL: Griffin Enright Landscape The Birch Residence , located in Beverly Hills, is a testament to the creativity and talent of GEL: Griffin Enright Landscape. The redesign of the landscape combines the ideal modern design aesthetic with existing natural features to create a retreat for the homeowners. The design aims to include a variety of native and drought-tolerant plants characteristic of California, including California poppies and succulents, maximizing sustainability while allowing for rich colors throughout the seasons. The design also takes advantage of a state-of-the-art irrigation system, engineered to incorporate smart technology to limit water usage while maintaining a lush green space year-round. One of the most significant challenges our team had to contend with was the steep grade of the property. Our designers executed the tiered terraces with locally-sourced stone materials which provided support while allowing the designers to create additional visual layers of color and texture throughout the landscape. The terraces provided a functional purpose while also improving the aesthetic experience. The meditation garden is the centerpiece of the Birch Residence. It includes a custom-designed stone pathway, leading to a bubbling water feature, to create a very serene atmosphere. Wood seating areas made of sustainable harvest wood are located throughout the garden that provide comfort while encouraging the users to engage with the surrounding landscape in a casual way. Overall the created a wonderful outdoor space where all of the homeowner's plans and goals for their lives were achieved and the indoor and outdoor relationship was established. The Birch Residence illustrates GEL's attention to detail while delivering quality and innovation in the design for our clients. The outcome enhances the overall aesthetic of the residence, while also providing our clients with the outdoor living space they desired.
