About This Project

Pecan Ranch by The Garden Design Studio Located in central Austin, Pecan Ranch is a fantastic collaboration between nature and design by The Garden Design Studio. The goal for the was to enhance a large estate and create a restful outdoor living room that would be sustainable and reflect the beauty of Texas. The new landscape includes a variety of native plants chosen for this climate and also adds biodiversity. Added features were a large number of pecan trees, providing an anchoring element in the landscape, shade, and seating near spaces for entertaining. Stone pathways, sourced in the local area of Austin, were used for texture and rustic appeal to meander through various gardens with native wildflowers and fragrant herbs. One of the biggest challenges we faced for this was the topographic variation of the site. Our team was able to incorporate an aspect of terracing to create an attractive way to display the variation in the elevation of the site without erosion and to beautify the landscape. A custom-built water feature with a waterfall was designed to add sound and wildlife habitat. The outcome is a beautiful and functional landscape that is pleasing for the client and guests; an outdoor space that invites and encourages relaxation or play and recreation. Pecan Ranch is an example of the importance of craftsmanship, innovation in design, and sustainable landscaping practices that The Garden Design Studio offers. Our work goes beyond just simply adding beauty to each , it brings joy to the client, their guests, and will enrich the surrounding community in Austin and beyond, including areas, such as Barton Creek, Lost Creek, and West Lake Hills. The Garden Design Studio prides itself in the design, installation, and management of outdoor spaces that will last and create enjoyment through time.
